The Nursing Department of Green River College (GRC) seeks candidates for a tenure-track position who are passionate about teaching, learning, and student success, and who are committed to the service and equity mission of community colleges. As an open-access institution, Green River is deeply dedicated to helping students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. This position will primarily support our associate and bachelor level programs, with the option to support other department offerings as needed. This is a full-time position and reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing. Though the Full-Time Faculty contract is nine-months, our nursing programs run year-round, so we also plan to offer the person selected for this position work in the nursing programs during the summer.
DEPARTMENT STATEMENT
The mission of the Green River College Nursing Department is to provide quality education to prepare students as safe, competent practitioners within our diverse healthcare community. Graduates of the Green River College Nursing Program will be qualified candidates for the successful completion of the NCLEX and prepared for advancement in continuing healthcare education. The department’s vision is to meaningfully contribute to the advancement of healthcare in a diverse community. The department has embedded following values in its curriculum: community engagement, diversity and inclusion, integrity, excellence, innovation, caring, and student success. We seek faculty experienced in developing innovative course content and delivering instructional practices, as well as those experienced in delivering supportive services for diverse populations and in communicating issues and concerns faced by racially minoritized students.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College’s student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River’s service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities.
